Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a very painful and often disabling condition that is estimated to affect 5.8 million Americans. The majority of the patients are female.

The American College of Rheumatology created a tender point analysis that is part of the diagnosis of Fibromyalgia.  According to the ACR the patient must have tenderness at 11 of the 18 points, both above and below the waist and on both sides of the body. This helps to differentiate Fibromyalgia from a regional pain issue.

We have found that there are multiple factors involved in helping someone recover from fibromyalgia which is why our approach is multifaceted. Dr Talorico has written a workbook for the treatment of fibromylagia patients that is based on his 20 year history of treating patients with the disorder.

It is important to attempt to rule out other conditions that complicate fibromyalgia such as: thyroid  problems, diabetes, anemia, and Arnold Chiari Malformation.

Each patient has an individualized approach however most treatment plans include several of the following:

  • Active Release Technique
  • Rapid Release Technique
  • Targeted rehabilitation and mobility treatment
  • Neurological Re-training
  • Customized nutritional approach, including topical nutraceuticals
  • Instrument based spinal treatment
  • Cold laser treatment
  • Blood work analysis
  • Sleep analysis
  • Diet Analysis
